Dorival Júnior spotted squad gaps after taking charge late last April. With Corinthians now free of their transfer ban, the club have finally begun to answer his wishlist. He is content with progress, yet he wants further additions.

According to Globo.com, he insists on at least one forward and would also like a holding midfielder and a left-back. Atlético-MG's Júnior Santos is among the options under discussion, though talks have cooled in recent days. Wolfsburg's Vini Souza is considered a distant target.

With the Brasileirão starting next week and the Supercopa do Brasil on one February, Dorival has urged speed. He said the squad needs to be more complete as soon as possible, noted that executive director of football Marcelo Paz is working on it, and expressed hope the group will soon be formed with options that keep the team's level.

To date, Corinthians have agreed six signings, but only three are available to the coach, defender Gabriel Paulista and midfielder Matheus Pereira, who have already debuted, plus Uruguayan right-back Pedro Milans.

Next week should bring midfielder Alisson on loan from São Paulo, and forward Kaio César from Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. The final arrival will be goalkeeper João Ricardo, expected in March after completing shoulder surgery recovery at Fortaleza. With funds tight, the club do not plan permanent buys early this year, limiting themselves to paying for loans, and Brazil's transfer window runs until March.
