Corinthians visit Estudiantes in Argentina at 21:30 on Wednesday for the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals, with Uruguayan referee Esteban Ostojich appointed to officiate.
According to Meu Timao, this will be Corinthians' fourth match under Ostojich, all in continental knockout ties. Their record with him stands at one win, one draw and one defeat, though they were eliminated on each occasion.
The first meeting came in 2022, also in a Libertadores quarter-final. Ostojich oversaw the 1-0 defeat to Flamengo at the Maracanã after a 2-0 home loss in the first leg, and he sent off centre-back Bruno Méndez.
In 2023 he took charge of the Copa Sudamericana semi-final first leg against Fortaleza at Neo Química Arena, which finished 1-1. The return ended 2-0 to Fortaleza, knocking Corinthians out.
In 2025 came the only victory under the Uruguayan, a 2-0 home win over Barcelona de Guayaquil. It was not enough to overturn a three-goal deficit from the first leg, so Corinthians again went out.
For the Estudiantes tie, the officiating team is entirely Uruguayan, with assistants Martin Soppi and Pablo Llarena, Alberto Feres as fourth official and Antonio García on VAR.
