Corinthians midfielder leads Brasileirão in assists from corners since 2024

Rodrigo Garro was once again decisive in the Brazilian Championship Série A. In the 1-1 draw between Corinthians and Cruzeiro last Wednesday, the midfielder recorded another assist and extended an impressive achievement in the competition.

With the pass for the equalizing goal at Mineirão, scored by defender João Pedro Tchoca, Garro reached the mark of seven assists from corner kicks, the highest number in the tournament since 2024. This data comes from the Opta Sports profile.

After the midfielder’s corner kick, the young defender rose above the opposing defense to find the back of the net. In this edition of the Brasileirão, the number 8 had already contributed in a similar situation in the 2-0 win over Red Bull Bragantino, when he found Gabriel Paulista at the near post after a corner kick.

Garro’s numbers for the club reinforce his influence in the national tournament. Of the 26 assists provided wearing the black and white shirt, 17 happened in Brasileirão matches. In 2024, the Argentine finished as the competition’s assist leader, with 11 goal passes.

Even having missed the team’s first matches of the season, the midfielder already sits alone at the top of the list of main assist providers in the squad in 2026, with three decisive passes. He also has one goal this year, scored against Athletico Paranaense.

Garro will once again be available to Dorival Júnior this Saturday, when Corinthians face Novorizontino in the semifinal of the Campeonato Paulista. The single-leg match will be played at 8:30 PM at Estádio Doutor Jorge Ismael de Biasi.
