Corinthians miss deadline to clear women’s image-rights arrears, payment now expected after Cruzeiro tie | OneFootball

Corinthians missed their deadline to settle overdue image-rights payments to the women’s squad, despite president Osmar Stabile’s promise to resolve the issue by Friday.

According to Meu Timao, the club will not pay over the weekend or on Monday because of Brazil’s Independence Day holiday, so regularisation is only expected from Tuesday, after the Brabas face Cruzeiro.

The pledge was made last Tuesday when part of the squad visited Parque São Jorge to address the delays, meeting women’s football director Íris Sesso and Stabile. Players arrived around 16:00 and left near 19:30 after talks.

The debt was to be cleared in two instalments, the first paid that Friday and the remaining half due last Friday but still outstanding. It covers image-rights for June and July, with payment to come from club funds without sponsor money such as Fatal Fans.

Further sums owed to the Brabas remain outstanding, including bonuses for the 2025 Libertadores title and runners-up prizes for the 2026 Copa das Campeãs and Supercopa do Brasil.

Elsewhere at the club, the basketball team are three months behind on image-rights. Players considered sitting out, but they faced Pinheiros in the Paulista quarter-finals and lost 87-79.

Any similar stance from the Brabas could disrupt the run-in. Corinthians lead their Brasileirão quarter-final against Cruzeiro after Monday’s win, have a Paulista play-in against Red Bull Bragantino in November, and travel to Ecuador in October for the Libertadores.
