Corinthians name new Under-17 boss to replace Raphael Laruccia

On the afternoon of this Tuesday (25), Corinthians' youth department announced the hiring of coach Guilherme Nascimento to take charge of the Under-17 category. He arrives to replace Raphael Laruccia, who was dismissed in mid-October after early eliminations in the Paulista Championship and the Brasileirão.

Born in Belo Horizonte, his last club was Athletico-PR, where he coached the Under-17 and Under-20 teams. With the younger squad, he won the Paraná state championship undefeated this season. In addition, he has already worked at Betim, Atlético-MG, América-MG, and RB Bragantino. On Corinthians’ official website, the coach commented on his feelings upon arriving at Parque São Jorge.

“Everyone who works in football dreams of representing a fanbase of this magnitude. It’s the biggest club in Brazil, with a youth development project respected worldwide, and I have the opportunity to make this dream come true,” said the coach, who outlined the style of play that the Fiel can expect. “A competitive team, identified with Corinthians’ values, that fights for every space, every possession, and seeks to be the protagonist,” he said.

The executive of Corinthians’ youth categories, Erasmo Darmiani, also praised the arrival of the professional. He believes Guilherme is qualified to help the Alvinegro win and compete for titles.

“Guilherme is a coach who will greatly add to the Club’s profile. He is a qualified professional to lead us in pursuit of titles, as well as to develop athletes, a fundamental point so that in the near future we can supply the professional department with players ready to perform in the main team,” he stated.

President Osmar Stabile also emphasized: “It is a great pleasure to welcome a professional of Guilherme Nascimento’s caliber. We seek to organize and improve the conditions of our youth categories, and Guilherme brings together the characteristics we want to advance in all aspects of player development.”
