Corinthians have opposed SAFiel’s bid to register its name with the Inpi, arguing that the term Fiel is historically linked to the club.
According to Globo.com, businessmen promoting a plan to turn Corinthians into an SAF applied in August 2025 to register SAFiel through Invasão Fiel S.A., and the club filed its opposition in October.
In its filing, the club says Fiel and its variations are long associated with Corinthians, so any brand containing that word imitates its registered marks. It argues SAFiel merely adds the prefix SA to Fiel, which does not remove phonetic, visual or conceptual similarity.
The submission also claims the shared structure could mislead consumers and cause confusion. The Inpi has yet to decide the case.
SAFiel responded that the challenge reflects a view of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista as exclusive property rather than a collective heritage of supporters.
Its project proposes turning Corinthians into an SAF, separating football from the social club and placing the men’s, women’s and youth departments into a new company, Invasão Fiel S.A.
The group estimates raising between R$ 1.6 billion and R$ 2.5 billion to restructure debts, including the Neo Química Arena, modernise the training centre, build an academy base, invest in the squad and strengthen governance, systems, processes and compliance.
