Corinthians held Estudiantes in Argentina in the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals, with Kaio César levelling after the break. A late stop from Hugo Souza preserved the draw.
According to Globo.com, the goalkeeper was their standout and was not at fault for the first-half goal. Garro redeemed an earlier error by supplying the pass for the equaliser.
Estudiantes struck early from a corner, Alexis Castro scoring after contact with Gustavo Henrique, with three Corinthians defenders appealing for fouls. The visitors then rode a few scares despite largely controlling the half.
Soon after half-time, Garro slid a fine ball through for Kaio César, who drove low past Muslera. The forward could have delivered even more with sharper decisions across the game.
Matheuzinho competed well on the right but offered little thrust, while Gabriel Paulista was assured at the back. Gustavo Henrique looked uneasy before improving, and Matheus Bidu intercepted well despite limited room to attack.
Allan’s switches relieved pressure and found advanced areas, and Carrillo worked both flanks before making way for Charles, who aided the defence. Breno Bidon steadied the first half and kept his composure after the interval.
Memphis Depay remains short of rhythm, registering only one off-target effort, while Pedro Raul arrived late without impact. Matheus Pereira featured too briefly to rate, and Fernando Diniz’s side allowed few clear chances and improved after his midfield tweaks.
