According to Globo.com, Corinthians’ player ratings from the defeat at Coritiba placed Pedro Raul and Allan as the lowest performers, while Raniele, Carrillo and Memphis Depay were the standouts.
The centre-forward offered little, failed to hold the ball up and was replaced at half-time. In a flat first half the team lacked ideas with him static up front. Kauê mixed sharp saves with an error for the opener as the ball slipped between him and the post, Allan almost gifted an early goal, and Milans struggled against Breno Lopes before being withdrawn.
After the interval, with two changes and trailing, Fernando Diniz pushed his side higher despite a lengthy injury list. Kaio César found room with greater mobility ahead, Carrillo dictated the tempo and Depay’s hold-up play and shooting energised the attack.
As Corinthians pressed for an equaliser, a lapse at the back allowed Paulo Roberto to score Coritiba’s second late on at Couto Pereira. Allan failed to track the runner and Gabriel Paulista did not communicate, compounding the error.
Raniele, industrious throughout, was rewarded with a stoppage-time header. Matheus Pereira forced passes, Breno Bidon took an unnecessary booking and offered little cutting edge, while Lingard, Gui Negão and Dieguinho made minimal impact. Gustavo Henrique was solid and Angileri disciplined, though his touch and passing were erratic.
