Corinthians reach agreement with São Paulo, Alisson loan move nearly sealed

Corinthians is close to finalizing the arrival of midfielder Alisson from São Paulo on a one-season loan, meaning until the end of 2026. According to information initially released by journalist Samir Carvalho from Canal Café do Setorista, the Alvinegro has agreed to pay R$ 1.5 million to the Morumbi team for the player's loan, which includes a purchase option at the end of the contract.

Additionally, according to Samir Carvalho, Corinthians proposed to São Paulo to pay the mentioned amount only in 2027. As reported by Meu Timão, both management teams are now trying to reach a consensus on the payment method – the Corinthians management's idea is to pay the proposed amount to the Morumbi team in installments.

Negotiations between Corinthians and São Paulo regarding the player have been ongoing for a few days. Initially, an alternative was a player swap, which did not happen due to the names on the table. Later, a free two-year loan was discussed, also without an agreement.

Alisson, who was developed in Cruzeiro's youth categories, started his career as a winger and, in 2023, when Dorival Júnior was São Paulo's coach, began using the player as a midfielder. In midfield, he became one of the pillars of the São Paulo team in winning the Copa do Brasil, leading to the best season of his career. In 2024, Alisson was called up by Dorival to represent the Brazilian National Team.

In 2025, he played 52 matches, scoring one goal and providing two assists. However, the athlete struggled with physical issues. At the beginning of this season, the player lost his place under coach Hernán Crespo and has not been included in São Paulo's match squads – the coach confirmed the negotiations for the player's departure in a press conference. Since joining the club in 2022, he has scored eight goals and provided 12 assists in 188 games. Besides the 2023 Copa do Brasil, he won the 2024 Supercopa do Brasil with the club.

So far, Corinthians has announced the arrivals of defender Gabriel Paulista (35 years old), right-back Pedro Milans (23 years old), and midfielder Matheus Pereira (27 years old). They previously played for Besiktas in Turkey, Peñarol in Uruguay, and Fortaleza. The first two arrive on free transfers, and the latter is on loan until the end of 2026. Additionally, the Alvinegro has a deal in progress with forward Kaio César from Al-Hilal, Saudi Arabia.
