Corinthians futsal player Renato Gregório da Fonseca is representing Brazil at the Futsal Down World Cup in Mérida, Mexico.

Brazil’s first phase runs from 14 to 18 September. They opened on Monday by beating Argentina 9-3 and face Guatemala on Tuesday at 15:30 Brasília time. Portugal follow on Wednesday at 13:30, then Mexico on Thursday at 12:30, before Peru on Friday at 14:00.

Born in Itu, São Paulo state, in 1998, Renato has been called up since 2018 and has won three world titles in Ribeirão Preto in Brazil, Lima in Peru and Antalya in Türkiye.

He was named best player at all three tournaments and finished top scorer in two.
