Corinthians reopen Museu do Povo, honour Black pioneers in history

Corinthians announced this Friday (28th) the organization of an event by the Cultural Department as part of the celebrations for Black Consciousness Month. The event, called The Black History of Corinthians, will take place this Saturday (29th) at the Neo Química Arena, starting at 2 PM (Brasília time), marking the reopening of the People's Museum, located in the atrium of the West sector of the stadium.

Thanks to a revamp of the location, the People's Museum has gained a new collection that presents, in chronological order, the participation and leadership of black people in Corinthians' history, from its foundation to the present day. Thus, visitors to the space will be able to discover a new thematic flag, pieces from the Corinthians Memorial, historic black ex-players, and new exhibitions displayed in the space's showcases.

As part of the program, NECO (Corinthians Study Center) will host a discussion in the Press Room of the Neo Química Arena with ex-players and personalities, discussing strategies to combat racism and the appreciation of black memory in football. The proposal is to reinforce the club's role in defending racial equality and rescuing stories that have often been overlooked in Brazilian sports.
