Corinthians returned to work at CT Joaquim Grava on Thursday afternoon, a day after their Libertadores exit to Estudiantes, turning full attention to the Brasileirão. According to Meu Timao, the players reconvened with the focus on the league run-in.
The squad was split into two groups. Those who played more than 45 minutes on Wednesday completed indoor recovery, while the others began with strength work in the gym.
After a warm-up on the pitch, head coach Fernando Diniz led a 10 v 10 exercise. With their continental campaign over, Corinthians now have only the league for the rest of the season.
They sit 14th on 32 points, four clear of Internacional and Vasco, who occupy the first two places in the relegation zone. The team are aiming to stop a run of five straight league defeats this weekend.
Since beating Red Bull Bragantino in early August, they have lost to Cruzeiro 2-1, Coritiba 2-1, Santos 1-0, Chapecoense 2-1 and Flamengo 2-1. Two further sessions are scheduled for Friday morning and Saturday before Sunday’s match.
Corinthians host Fluminense in the 28th round at Neo Química Arena on Sunday at 16:00.
