Corinthians reunited reserve full-backs Fabrizio Angileri and Pedro Milans for the first time in more than three months, but slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Coritiba on Sunday, their second straight in the league, leaving them on 32 points in 10th.

According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz rested goalkeeper Hugo Souza and first-choice full-backs Matheuzinho and Matheus Bidu, none of whom travelled, which opened the door for the back-up duo to start together at Couto Pereira.

Their previous joint start came on 21 May in Uruguay, a 1-1 draw with Peñarol in the Copa Libertadores group stage second round that sealed Corinthians’ progress to the knockouts as Group E winners.

Opportunities have been limited for the pair this year, with Bidu and Matheuzinho clocking heavy minutes and avoiding lengthy injuries. Angileri has made 13 appearances, scoring one goal. Milans has featured 11 times since arriving in January, without scoring.

Angileri and Milans remain available to Diniz for the rest of the season. After seven matches in three weeks, Corinthians are next in action on Sunday against Santos at Neo Química Arena in round 25 of the Brasileirão, kick-off 16:00.
