Corinthians right-back out v Fortaleza after third yellow in Brasileirão

With goals from midfielder Raniele and defender Gustavo Henrique, Corinthians ended up with a draw against Botafogo at the Neo Química Arena, in the 36th round of the Brazilian Championship, with a score of 2 x 2. The result placed the Alvinegro in ninth position with 46 points (12 wins, 10 draws, and 14 losses – 40 goals scored and 44 conceded).

Besides the stumble in Itaquera, Dorival Júnior's coaching staff has an important absence for the next match: right-back Matheuzinho. The number 2 was given a third yellow card after a foul in the central midfield area on midfielder Barrera, at 43 minutes of the final stage.

Thus, he is a confirmed absence for the match against Fortaleza next Wednesday (3), at 7:30 PM (Brasília time), at Arena Castelão, in the 37th and penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship. Besides him, the Alvinegro is expected to be without forward Memphis Depay, who is still recovering from a bone edema suffered in the Majestic derby on November 20th.

Matheuzinho joined Corinthians at the beginning of 2024 and became the undisputed starter at right-back with the arrival of Ramón Díaz in July of last year. Since then, he has been crucial in the team's surge in the last Brasileirão and was a starter in the campaign for the 2025 Paulistão title against Palmeiras in Itaquera.

In 104 games for Corinthians (80 as a starter), he has scored five goals and provided seven assists. In total, there are 45 wins, 27 draws, and 32 losses – a 52% success rate.
