Corinthians secure visa renewal, Memphis available to face Coritiba | OneFootball

Memphis Depay has had his work visa renewed, leaving him available for Corinthians’ trip to Coritiba on Sunday. The forward will be at Fernando Diniz’s disposal after the club fast-tracked the paperwork.

UOL Esporte reports that, after he signed a new contract on Tuesday, Corinthians moved quickly to prevent his visa, due to expire on Saturday 22, from lapsing. Without renewal, a fresh application could have taken up to 15 days.

Memphis featured midweek, coming off the bench in the 1-0 win over Rosario Central. He set up Breno Bidon for the goal that sealed Libertadores quarter-final qualification.

The renewal followed a week in which Corinthians had said they did not plan to extend his deal, before talks resumed in search of an agreement. President Osmar Stabile faced fierce supporter pressure, including leaked personal data and protests outside his home.

This season the Dutchman has 16 appearances, 11 starts, one goal and two assists. Corinthians visit Couto Pereira at 19:30 on Sunday in the 24th round of the Brasileirão.
