Corinthians visit Flamengo at the Maracanã on Sunday at 17:30 in the 27th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, aiming to steady their season by restoring defensive solidity.
According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz's side have conceded in four consecutive matches. The run began on 23 August with a 2-1 loss to Coritiba, then defeats to Santos 1-0 and Chapecoense 2-1, before a 1-1 draw with Estudiantes in the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals on Wednesday.
If they concede again on Sunday, it will be five straight games without a clean sheet, last seen in the first quarter of the year. Between February and March, they allowed goals in 1-1 draws with Portuguesa, Cruzeiro and Santos, plus defeats to Novorizontino 1-0 in the Paulista semi-final and Coritiba 2-0 in the league.
Their worst recent spell came late in 2025, seven successive league matches without a clean sheet, with 12 conceded. That stretch featured losses to Red Bull Bragantino 2-1, Ceará 1-0, Cruzeiro 3-0 and Fortaleza 2-1, draws with Botafogo 2-2 and Juventude 1-1, and a 3-1 win over São Paulo.
Beyond the defensive wobble, Corinthians need to halt their slide down the table. If they lose this weekend, they would match a drought last seen in 1997, when the club suffered five straight league defeats. They are 11th on 32 points, 11 off the Libertadores places and seven clear of the relegation zone.
