Corinthians rejected a €7 million offer from a European club for right-back Matheuzinho during the last European window, and have set a clear strategy for future deals.
According to Meu Timao, the club are now pricing players based on the sum they want for their own share of economic rights. Interested buyers must first agree a fee for that stake, then negotiate separately with other holders.
Matheuzinho joined in early 2024 for €4 million for 60 per cent from Flamengo. Flamengo retain 32 per cent, with Londrina holding eight per cent.
The same approach applies to Yuri Alberto, with Corinthians owning 50 per cent and Zenit the other half. The club have set €22 million as the price for their share, matching the total of Lazio’s January bid. That proposal for full rights would have yielded about €11 million to Corinthians, yet only €5.5 million would have reached the club because 5 per cent of its stake belongs to agent André Cury.
Milan’s offer for midfielder André Luiz could have reached €17 million for the 70 per cent Corinthians hold, with the player foregoing the remaining 30 per cent. It was rejected.
Despite recent refusals, football executive Marcelo Paz has admitted sales will be needed in the second half of the year to meet budget projections. The plan, presented by Osmar Stabile’s board and approved by the Conselho de Orientação and the Conselho Deliberativo, targets R$ 151 million from player rights in 2026.
Corinthians next host Coritiba at Neo Química Arena on 11 March, in the fifth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
