André Luiz is a doubt for Corinthians’ meeting with Red Bull Bragantino after feeling pain in his right hamstring during Thursday’s Copa do Brasil defeat to Internacional, according to Meu Timao.

The No 49 was substituted in the second half for Jesse Lingard and applied ice to the area while on the bench. He was assessed on Friday and will be re-evaluated on Saturday.

His availability for Fernando Diniz on Sunday at Estádio Municipal de Bragança Paulista, in the 22nd round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, remains uncertain.

Diniz can turn to André Carrillo or Matheus Pereira in midfield. During the World Cup break, Pereira operated closer to André Luiz’s role, getting into the box more often and scoring in a friendly against Cascavel.

The midfielder continues to draw interest from Europe. Earlier this year, Corinthians moved towards a transfer to Milan worth about 15 million euros, roughly R$ 90 million, but the deal did not conclude.

The club are now awaiting a possible proposal from Juventus that could reach 18 million euros, approximately R$ 105 million, for the No 49.

This season André has 35 appearances and five goals, the third highest tally in the squad.
