Corinthians have paid the first of four quarterly instalments on their Caixa Econômica Federal financing for Neo Química Arena, around R$ 28 million.
According to Meu Timao, the club are due to spend about R$ 115 million in 2026. The refinancing was agreed in late 2022 after more than two years in default.
Three similar payments are scheduled for June, September and December. If any instalment is missed, Caixa can draw on a reserve account.
When that reserve is not fully funded, the state bank may block club revenues, including prize money, to bridge any gap. In December, 50% of Corinthians’ Copa do Brasil windfall was withheld.
The Arena debt with Caixa stands at about R$ 660 million, and the board are studying ways to speed up repayment. One option is reselling the stadium’s naming rights. The bank has hired a firm to value the asset and assess whether the current income aligns with market potential.
The initial deadline for that work has lapsed, and Caixa has asked for more time to report back. The current Hypera Pharma deal, signed in September 2020, totals R$ 300 million in 20 annual instalments of R$ 15 million, now about R$ 21 million with IGP-M indexation.
