Corinthians players publicly backed forward Vitinho before facing Athletico Paranaense on Thursday, holding a banner after his knee surgery the previous day.

According to Meu Timao, the squad lined up for the pre-match photo with a message of support and a shirt displaying his number 11.

He underwent surgery to repair a meniscal injury in his left knee at Hospital Albert Einstein. The procedure was led by knee specialist Dr Moisés Cohen, with the club’s head of medical, Ricardo Galotti, in attendance.

The problem arose last Friday during training at CT Dr Joaquim Grava. Imaging and assessment confirmed the need for an operation, and his recovery will now be overseen by the medical staff.

Vitinho has not featured since 30 April, a 2-0 home win over Peñarol in the Libertadores group stage. He had been sidelined first by a right hip obturator muscle strain, then a hamstring tendon issue.

Signed in August 2025 after a spell with Al-Ettifaq, he has made 32 appearances, with 17 wins, six draws and nine defeats, plus one goal and four assists. His contract runs until December 2026. The match is at Neo Química Arena in the 21st round of the Brasileirão.
