Corinthians sound out rival’s midfielder, consider possible swap

Corinthians made an informal inquiry about midfielder Alisson, currently at São Paulo, to assess the possibility of a transfer to their rival. So far, however, there are no negotiations underway between the clubs. The information was initially released by the SCCP News profile on X, and later by ge.globo.

The initial approach was made by Marcelo Paz, the new football executive at Timão, who spoke with the player’s representatives. Internally, at Parque São Jorge, Alisson’s name has been discussed for some time and is well received as a potential reinforcement.

Alisson, 32, is under contract with São Paulo until the end of 2027. The midfielder is highly valued by coach Dorival Júnior, who played a significant role in his career by moving him from forward to midfielder. Together, they even won the 2023 Copa do Brasil with the rival club.

Despite Corinthians’ initial interest, the move is still at the inquiry stage, with no formal negotiations open at this time. According to ge, sources linked to São Paulo deny the possibility of a transfer at the moment.

Both clubs are currently facing financial difficulties, and therefore, the main possibility for negotiation being considered is a player exchange. However, nothing is advanced yet.

So far, the only player with advanced negotiations with Corinthians is defender Gabriel Paulista, 35, who is a free agent after terminating his contract with Besiktas, Turkey. Timão is even awaiting the player in São Paulo next Friday (9th) to move forward with the talks.
