Corinthians strike early, hold off Campo Mourão in LNF semi-final

This Thursday (20th), Corinthians returned to the court for the National Futsal League (LNF). Playing at the UTFPR Arena in Campo Mourão-PR, Timão faced the home team in the first leg of the national competition's semifinals, opening the score with Marlon within the first minute of the game and withstanding the opponent's pressure to secure a victory by the minimum score.

With this result, the Alvinegro will play the return match this Thursday (27th) at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, needing only a draw to secure a spot in the grand final of the LNF. However, if they lose the match, they will need to win the overtime against the Paraná team, as they finished the first phase in a better position and thus have this advantage. The game at Parque São Jorge takes place at 8 PM (Brasília time).

Coach Fernando Malafaia set the following starting lineup for Corinthians: Lucas Oliveira, Marlon, Luisinho, Renatinho, and Rick. On the bench, the following were available: Kelvin, Igor Carioca, Caio Barros, Luiz Brizzi, Maicon, Vandinho, Edimar, Israel, and Deives.

Corinthians didn't take long to show decisiveness: in less than a minute, Luizinho shot, the ball deflected off Marlon, and ended up in the back of the net, opening the score right at the start. The game became electric, with Campo Mourão pushing Timão into defense and requiring a cinematic save from Lucas Martins. The home team pressed and created good plays but faltered at the finish.

Between attacks and counterattacks, Kalil appeared to hold Corinthians, while Renan and Jhonny posed significant threats on the Campo Mourão side. The game was open, with chances for both sides, and Timão betting on defensive strength and quick counterattacks to maintain the lead until the end of the first half.

The second half maintained the intensity and balance. Corinthians adjusted in defense, began to control the game's pace more, and continued exploiting quick transitions, with Maicon nearly extending the lead with a shot that went just wide. Campo Mourão tried to regain pressure and started investing in long balls, while Timão found space in counterattacks.

In the final stretch, the home team bet on the flying goalkeeper and created dangerous situations, but Lucas Oliveira made great saves and kept the score. Corinthians also took advantage of the empty goal in counterattacks but couldn't extend the lead. The end was dramatic, with clear opportunities for both, but it was Timão who celebrated, securing a valuable away victory.
