Corinthians slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Coritiba on Sunday at Couto Pereira, leaving them with back-to-back Campeonato Brasileiro losses for the first time in more than four months.
Fernando Diniz's side had already fallen 2-1 to Cruzeiro on 16 August at Neo Química Arena.
The last time Corinthians lost successive league games was in April under Dorival Júnior. They were beaten 3-1 by Fluminense at the Maracanã, then 1-0 by Internacional in Itaquera, a result that led to Dorival's exit. That stretch also included a nine-match winless run in the competition.
Sunday’s setback had immediate consequences in the table. Corinthians dropped one place to 10th, on 32 points from 24 matches.
The squad now have a full week to prepare. They host Santos next Sunday, the 30th, at 16:00 at Neo Química Arena in round 25 of the Brasileirão.
