Corinthians ‘to explore’ loan for Atlético-MG forward Júnior Santos | OneFootball

According to Meu Timao, Corinthians are monitoring and assessing a move for Atlético-MG forward Júnior Santos, with a loan under consideration.

Talks remain at an early stage. One option would be a loan with Corinthians covering only part of the player’s wages.

Júnior is admired by head coach Dorival Júnior, who wants power and pace on the flanks to add tactical variety. The club is close to formalising a loan for Kaio César from Al-Hilal, and have Vitinho of Tijuana on their radar.

Atlético-MG paid eight million dollars, roughly R$ 48.7 million at the time, last year. In his first season he played 28 matches, scored two goals and supplied two assists.

His debut campaign in Minas Gerais was considered frustrating due to injuries, three in total. The latest, a pubic problem on 30 September, ruled him out of the 2025 run-in and has kept him sidelined into 2026.

A graduate of Osvaldo Cruz, in São Paulo, he also featured for Ituano, Ponte Preta, Fortaleza and in Japan before standing out at Botafogo between 2022 and 2024. He was pivotal in the 2024 Libertadores title win, finishing as top scorer, and recorded 20 goals and four assists in 50 games.
