Corinthians to host women's basketball semi-final behind closed doors

Parque São Jorge will host two simultaneous events this Monday, both scheduled for 7:00 PM: the second match of the Paulista Women's Basketball semifinal between Corinthians and Santo André, and the vote on the statutory reform held by the Deliberative Council. Given the potential risks involving the flow of fans, the club has decided to hold the Furiosas’ game behind closed doors.

“Sport Club Corinthians Paulista informs that, due to a meeting of the Deliberative Council taking place at Parque São Jorge, today’s game between Corinthians and Santo André, valid for the semifinal of the Paulista Basketball Championship, will be held behind closed doors,” the institution stated in an official announcement.

“Therefore, there will be no access for the general public. Entry will be allowed exclusively to previously accredited press and fans who purchased courtside seats, according to the rules established for the match,” the note added — read the full statement below.

On the court, Corinthians is looking to secure its spot in the State Championship final. The match takes place at the Wlamir Marques gymnasium, where the team will try once again to overcome Santo André. Having won the first game 78 to 58, another victory this Monday guarantees direct advancement to the final. If defeated, the team will need to play a third match, scheduled for Tuesday, also at Wlamir Marques. The game will be broadcast by Corinthians TV.

Meanwhile, the Deliberative Council will meet to vote on the proposal for a new club statute. A large turnout of members and fans is expected, as well as the press. Gaviões da Fiel, Corinthians’ main supporters’ group, has even called on its members to attend the event.

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista informs that, due to a meeting of the Deliberative Council taking place at Parque São Jorge, today’s game between Corinthians and Santo André, valid for the semifinals of the Paulista Basketball Championship, will be held behind closed doors.

This measure was adopted to ensure the organization, safety, and full functioning of the Club’s internal activities during the meeting period, avoiding any kind of logistical or operational interference. This is an exceptional decision, made with the aim of ensuring that all scheduled processes for the day take place with due responsibility and respect for the spaces being used simultaneously.

Therefore, there will be no access for the general public. Entry will be allowed exclusively to previously accredited press and fans who purchased courtside seats, according to the rules established for the match.
