Corinthians ‘to owe’ two months of image-rights to men’s squad | OneFootball

Corinthians have again fallen behind on image-rights payments to the men’s first team, with the August instalment due on Monday 21 still unpaid, leaving two months outstanding. Itatiaia reports that there is currently no timetable to clear the arrears.

The club faced a similar situation recently, when June and July image rights went unpaid. One of those liabilities was partially settled on 25 August.

Further sums remain overdue to Fernando Diniz’s squad, including holiday pay during the World Cup and bonuses for the Libertadores group phase and the first round of the Brasileiro.

Player salaries were also delayed in September but were brought up to date on 16 September, ahead of the quarter-final against Estudiantes in the Libertadores.

The club, based at Parque São Jorge, are operating under severe financial strain, carrying debt of R$ 2.7 billion and three active transfer bans, two imposed by FIFA and one by the CNRD of the CBF, totalling about R$ 21.5 million.

The most recent ban, dated 21 July, relates to roughly R$ 6.2 million owed from the signing of midfielder Charles. Another FIFA block was recorded on 21 May over the arrival of José Martínez. The CBF applied a third ban on 18 September after late payment of around R$ 8 million, the fifth instalment under a CNRD agreement.

Elsewhere, the basketball team had three months of image-rights arrears, two of which were cleared last weekend, leaving one outstanding. Futsal payments are current, though some months were paid late.
