Corinthians are working with São Paulo on a deal for Alisson, 32, with talks centred on a loan. According to ESPN, the agreement could be finalised as a loan.

The clubs discussed a two season loan without a fee, under which Corinthians would cover the player’s wages until his contract at Morumbi expires.

São Paulo are instead seeking R$ 1 million for the loan and want Corinthians to pay the salaries. The Alvinegro board have made clear they will not pay a fee and will proceed only if they cover wages alone, otherwise the deal will not advance.

Even so, mutual interest has kept negotiations moving and a positive outcome remains likely. During the talks, Alisson has been left out of São Paulo’s recent matches.

Discussions have dragged on since the first week of January. An initial attempt by Corinthians to include out-of-favour players in a swap was rejected by their rivals.

Alisson is a trusted option for Dorival Júnior from their time together at São Paulo. Converted from a forward, he became a versatile midfield presence and was important in the 2023 Copa do Brasil triumph.

In 2025 he lost ground in the squad and spent more time on the bench. He still featured in 52 matches, with one goal and two assists.

Corinthians have already signed defender Gabriel Paulista and midfielder Matheus Pereira. The club are also close to adding Uruguayan right-back Pedro Milans, forward Kaio César from Al-Hilal, and goalkeeper João Ricardo.
