Corinthians unveil Matheus Pereira for 2026, midfielder joins on loan from Fortaleza

Corinthians have officially unveiled midfielder Matheus Pereira for the 2026 season at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, with president Osmar Stabile and executive director Marcelo Paz in attendance. He is the club’s second signing for 2026.
According to Meu Timao, he joins on loan from Fortaleza until the end of the year, with an option to buy. The deal was agreed at R$ 1.8 million, paid in 10 instalments of R$ 180,000.
Pereira said he had known of the club’s interest for some time and grew anxious about returning home. A lifelong Corinthians fan from a family of the same, he told his representatives he wanted the move.
He has already debuted, featuring in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with São Paulo at the Neo Química Arena. It is his second spell after graduating from the Terrão and making three first-team appearances in 2015 before leaving Parque São Jorge.
His career since then has taken in Juventus, Empoli, Bordeaux II, Paraná, Juventus B and Dijon, Barcelona B and Eibar, before a return to Brazil with Fortaleza.
Corinthians have also added centre-back Gabriel Paulista, who debuted in the 3-0 defeat to Red Bull Bragantino. The club are progressing deals for forward Kaio César of Al-Hilal and right-back Pedro Milans, who was in a box at the Neo Química Arena during the Majestoso.
The board are also monitoring São Paulo midfielder Alisson, identified as one of coach Dorival Júnior’s interests. Next up in the Campeonato Paulista is Santos on Thursday at 19:30, at Vila Belmiro.
