Corinthians trio play as Brazil lose to Norway in friendly

Three Corinthians players took to the field on the afternoon of this Friday (28). In a friendly match held at the Municipal Stadium Ciudad de La Línea, in Spain, Brazil was defeated by Norway 3-1, with one of the Brabas starting – defender Mariza, who scored the Brazilian goal in the match.

The other players in black and white who added minutes on the field were Gabi Zanotti and Thaís Ferreira. Lelê remained on the bench, while Duda Sampaio was not even listed. According to the CBF press office, the midfielder felt discomfort in her foot and is being treated by the National Team's medical department. The number 5 will be re-evaluated in the coming days.

For the match against the Europeans, coach Arthur Elias lined up Brazil with Lorena; Tarciane, Isa Haas, and Mariza; Bruninha, Ary Borges, Angelina, and Isabela; Gabi Portilho, Bia Zaneratto, and Luany. Meanwhile, Norway, led by Gemma Grainer, took the field with Fiskerstrand; Tuva Hansen, Engen, Harviken, Blakstad; Caroline Hansen; Naalsund, Kielland, Maanum, Gaupset, and Hégerberg.

The first half saw initial Norwegian dominance, opening the score at 11 minutes with Gaupset, after a cross from Caroline Hansen. Under pressure, Brazil relied on good saves from Lorena to stay in the game and, in injury time, their resilience was rewarded: after a series of created chances, Mariza took advantage of a corner from Angelina to head into the corner and tie the match.

In the second half, Norway regained the lead at nine minutes, again with Gaupset, after a play by Hégerberg. The situation worsened for Brazil with a penalty committed by Yaya, converted by Hégerberg herself. Even with the entries of Gabi Zanotti and Thaís Ferreira, the National Team couldn't react and saw the Norwegian defense secure the result.

Now, the Brazilian National Team travels to Portugal for their last commitment of the 2025 season. Playing at the Municipal Stadium of Aveiro next Tuesday (2), the team faces the home team. The match takes place at 4:45 PM (Brasília time).
