Corinthians U20 midfielder extends contract under Dorival Júnior’s eye

Midfielder Thomas Lisboa officially renewed his contract with Corinthians last Thursday, the 16th. The new deal for the midfielder, which runs until December 31, 2026, was announced by the agency that manages his career. The amount of the release clause has not yet been disclosed.

The negotiation had been underway in recent days and is part of the club's planning for the next season. Corinthians considers Thomas an important asset for the 2026 São Paulo Junior Football Cup and does not rule out using him in the professional squad after the end of the tournament.

At 20 years old, Thomas Lisboa is experiencing his last season in Timão’s youth categories. His previous contract would have ended in January 2026, which would leave little time for a possible transition to the professional team after the Copinha. For this reason, the board treated the renewal as a priority.

The expectation is that the midfielder will play in the 2026 Copinha as a starter and possibly as captain, before having his situation evaluated by Dorival Júnior’s coaching staff.

Although he has not yet officially debuted for the first team, Thomas has been closely monitored by the coaching staff. During the Brasileirão break for the FIFA Date, he even trained with the professional squad after standing out in the Under-20 activities.

Despite making a good impression in training, the player is not expected to feature this season, as he was not registered for the Brazilian Championship within the deadline set by the CBF.
