Corinthians under-20s thrashed by Portuguesa in friendly ahead of Copinha

On the morning of this Saturday (6), at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, the Filhos do Terrão faced the Under-20 team of Portuguesa in a training match preparing for the 2026 São Paulo Junior Football Cup and ended up being defeated 4-0. The information was released by the portal NETLUSA.

Rian Lucas, Freire, Luca, and Bertelli were the scorers for Portuguesa. According to the report, both management teams had agreed not to disclose the result of the friendly match. The Timãozinho has been preparing for the tournament since the beginning of November, following disappointments in the Under-20 Brasileirão and the Paulista Championship of this season.

It is worth noting that Corinthians is the biggest champion of the Copinha with 11 titles (1969, 1970, 1995, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2024), the last of which was in January of last year, when forward Kayke – now in the professional team – scored the only goal of the final against Cruzeiro, in Itaquera.

In the current season, even with one of the youngest teams in the Copinha, they were finalists. However, they ended up as runners-up, losing to São Paulo 3-2, in a comeback, in the grand final. Recently, the Filhos do Terrão played two other friendly matches: they drew with Midtjylland, from Denmark, 2-2, and defeated Inter de Limeira, with a score of 3-1.

For the 2026 Copinha, Corinthians will have its base in Jaú and is in Group 8 of the tournament alongside XV de Jaú, Trindade-GO, and Luverdense.
