Coritiba climb to eighth as JP Chermont delivers two assists

Coritiba beat Corinthians 2-1 at the Couto Pereira on Sunday to climb from 10th to 8th in the Brasileirão, with the visitors dropping from 9th to 10th.

Coxa struck in the 40th minute when Pedro Rocha finished from a tight angle after JP Chermont kept a corner alive.

After the restart, substitute Paulo Roberto glanced in a header (75.), again from a Chermont cross, to extend the lead.

Timão rallied and Raniele headed in during the third minute of second half stoppage time from Allan's delivery to set up a tense finish.

Memphis forced Pedro Morisco into a low save late on as the visitors pushed. Timão had 64.5% possession and 14 corners, but only three of 16 attempts were on target. Coxa made 55 clearances and won 80% of their tackles.
