Corralejo bar packs out for Leeds United matchdays with 'incredible atmosphere' | OneFootball

Leeds United fans on Fuerteventura flock to The York in Corralejo, where the island’s LUSC branch turns matchdays into a packed gathering. The branch is run by former Elland Road season ticket holder John Holliday, offering a lifeline when most bars lack LUTV.

“For a bit of fun I set up a supporters’ branch to give us some recognition and encourage other supporters to join us for games.” He told yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.

“We meet in a bar called The York, a small bar with perhaps 25 seats but we regularly have over 40 Leeds fans in for a game.”

“We have had 65, strangely for the Harrogate Town game in the FA Cup last year. The atmosphere is always good, even if we lose - people exchanging stories, where they come from and where their seat is at Elland Road if they have a season ticket.”

“When we beat Manchester United, it was an incredible atmosphere.”

Leeds head to the United States for pre-season. Wrexham in Tampa and Sunderland in New Jersey kick off at 12.30am UK time, then Liverpool in Chicago at 8pm on Saturday August 2. They are expected to host RB Leipzig on August 8/9, before Manchester United in Dublin. “All pre-season friendlies will be on in the bar but kick-off times may be prohibitive for games in the USA.”
