Leeds fans holidaying in Fuerteventura flock to Corralejo, where the local Leeds United Supporters’ Club packs out The York on Calle Juan de Austria for games, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.

Founded by John Holliday, a former Elland Road season ticket holder who moved 15 years ago, the branch is a lifeline when bars lack LUTV or interest in pre-season. He set it up to bring supporters together.

Leeds and Newcastle are among the best represented in the town. About a dozen Leeds fans live locally, with many travelling in. The York has roughly 25 seats, yet crowds often top 40, and 65 attended the Harrogate Town FA Cup tie last year.

Holidaymakers seek a change from poolside calm, and Leeds drama follows them 2,500 miles south. Matchdays often bring lively tales of Elland Road seats and hometowns, and the Manchester United win produced an incredible atmosphere.

Leeds start the first part of pre-season in the United States, complicating viewing in Europe. Fuerteventura shares the UK time zone, both are five hours ahead of the US east coast. Wrexham in Tampa and Sunderland in New Jersey start at 12.30am UK time, Liverpool in Chicago at 8pm on Saturday August 2.

Leeds are then expected to face RB Leipzig at Elland Road on the weekend of August 8/9, before Manchester United in Dublin the following Wednesday. All friendlies will be shown at The York, though US times may be prohibitive, and fans check details in person or on the branch’s Facebook page, with a flag hanging permanently in the bar.
