AC Milan’s decision to sign Alvaro Morata during the summer transfer window was not met with an entirely positive reaction, but the early signs from the striker are very positive.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes this morning that Morata is ‘more than a striker’ and is now ‘a leader’ for this Milan side. In a very short time the Spaniard has conquered Milan with goals (he scored against Torino and Lecce), but above all with his words and the standards he has set.

One of the things that was noticeable was the fact that he ran to hug the head coach Paulo Fonseca after Matteo Gabbia’s winning goal in the derby, amid the rumours that the Portuguese was going to be fired without a positive result.

In recent years – especially in Spain – Morata has received a lot of criticism that has certainly hurt, but has also made him grow and mature. Now he is stronger for it, and he was able to overcome the negativity but also some difficult personal circumstances.

At almost 32 years old, the former Atletico and Real Madrid man has now reached maturity, not only as a player, but also as a man. The choice to shave his hair as a sign of closeness to children with cancer is certainly the gesture of a true champion.

After having led Spain to winning the European Championship, Morata is now doing the same with Milan. In addition to his technical qualities, Alvaro was also bought by the Rossoneri for his personality and his leadership, as shown in the comments he made about the responsibility of being at such a big club.

The Rossoneri needed a point of reference and Morata is that. Tomorrow evening Fonseca’s side will return to the field against Bayer Leverkusen to try to get their first points in the Champions League and Morata will be there, having overcome bursitis to feature and score against Lecce on Friday.
