Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Shamrock Rovers midfielder Jack Byrne, according to Protathlima.
Byrne – who has previously played in the EFL for Blackburn, Wigan and Oldham – has been in fine form for Shamrock Rovers this season.
The 24-year-old has scored 10 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with eight assists from midfield.
According to Protathlima, Forest, Stoke, Preston and APOEL Nicosia are interested in the Irishman, who is out of contract next December.
Here, we discuss Forest’s reported interest in the player…

He could be worth a punt.
Forest don’t operate with a central attacking midfielder at the moment, with Chris Hughton often relying on a front-three with three central midfielders playing behind them.
Therefore, if Byrne was to arrive, it would be interesting to see if Hughton would change his system to accommodate the Irishman.
He’s caught the eye with some impressive performances for a Shamrock Rovers side that have been brilliant this season, as they’re unbeaten in their league campaign after 18 matches.
Byrne is capped at senior level for Ireland as well, and could be tempted by a move to the City Ground in the January transfer window.
There is no doubt that Nottingham Forest need to add someone who can provide the creative spark to their squad, and Byrne could be the player to do just that.
