Councillors press Flamengo after R$ 33.8m first half deficit | OneFootball

Flamengo are under pressure from 12 councillors after reporting an R$ 33.8 million deficit for the first half of 2026. According to Coluna Do Fla, the group filed two documents addressing governance and finances.

The documents were addressed to Ricardo Lomba, president of the Conselho Deliberativo, and Paulo Roberto Gomes, president of the Conselho Fiscal. They target budget transparency and the administration's autonomy.

One document asks Flamengo to resume publishing the annual budget, a practice kept on the club website until 2024. It also requests first half 2026 execution reports detailing forecasts and the shortfall.

The second urges the Conselho Fiscal to order presentation of the 2026 budget within 48 hours and to analyse applying article 146 of the Estatuto Social. The clause permits suspending the Conselho Diretor's autonomy if the accumulated deficit exceeds three percent of approved revenue, after which contracts, loans and advances would need prior approval from the Conselho de Administração.

Lomba and Gomes have not commented. The councillors also allege Lomba failed to present 2025 oversight reports. They ask the Conselho Fiscal to demand the 2026 budget and examine article 146 to avoid liability, citing article 69 on joint liability of presidents and vice-presidents.

The club says the shortfall mainly reflects R$ 192.4 million in amortisation for January signings, with Lucas Paquetá alone costing more than R$ 315 million. It adds that, excluding transfers and 2025 Club World Cup effects, recurring first half performance is the best in five years.
