Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley has agreed a deal to join newly promoted Premier League side Coventry, according to ExpressAndStar.com.

The 33-year-old arrived from Bristol City in 2023 and spent much of his time as second or third choice. He featured heavily in pre-season and played in the first two games of this season.

Wolves have sanctioned the move on a free despite one year left on his contract. Bentley is set to be back-up at Coventry.

The decision trims the wage bill as Wolves reshape their goalkeeping group. Jose Sa is set to start against Preston on Saturday, while Sam Johnstone may be fit enough for the bench after his shoulder surgery.

The department could yet change further, with Sa and Johnstone both able to leave if deals are struck and replacements are in place. Both are also prepared to stay and play if no move materialises, and each wants to be first choice if they remain.

Wolves are likely to add a senior third-choice keeper to replace Bentley, with former favourite John Ruddy under consideration for a return. The 39-year-old left Newcastle at the end of last season and is a free agent.
