Coventry City ended a 25-year wait for a Premier League victory as Jay Dasilva’s second-half goal secured a memorable 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
The Sky Blues arrived without a point from their opening four matches, having failed to score while conceding 10 goals. Frank Lampard’s side were largely on the back foot during a first half in which Forest enjoyed plenty of possession but created little of real danger.
Dan Ndoye and Liam Delap both sent efforts wide, while Carl Rushworth was called into action to deny Neco Williams from distance. Coventry also threatened through Brandon Thomas-Asante, whose effort was comfortably saved by Matz Sels.
The visitors finally broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the restart. Dasilva raced onto a long ball, got inside Daniel Munoz and produced a composed finish beyond Sels for his first Coventry goal.
Forest pushed for a response and came close when Bobby Thomas produced a superb goal-line clearance to deny Igor Jesus.
The Brazilian appeared to have levelled late on, but VAR ruled out his finish after deciding he had fouled Caleb Yirenkyi in the build-up.
Coventry held firm to climb to 18th, while Forest dropped to 12th.
