The Sky Blues' progression under the England icon has been made clear for all to see
Coventry City's great strides of progress under the management of Frank Lampard have now reached new heights, and it's no surprise as to how supporters at the CBS Arena feel towards their side's boss.
After inheriting a squad residing in the bottom half of the Championship following his eventual appointment in place of modern-day City icon, Mark Robins, last November, the club have continued to ride the crest of a wave despite suffering a well-documented setback in their promotion aims in last season's play-off semi-finals against now-Premier League outfit, Sunderland.
Despite making very few tweaks to his squad across a maiden pre-season and summer transfer window in charge of the West Midlands side, the opening two months of Lampard's first full season in CV6 couldn't have gone any better, in truth.
The former Chelsea, Everton and Derby County boss and his side remain the only club in the professional four divisions of English football to still be defending an unbeaten record heading into what will be their 12th encounter of the league season against Watford on Saturday afternoon.
And, whilst this may not have been at the forefront of Lampard's mind ahead of a potential sticky fixture against John Mousinho's Portsmouth outfit at Fratton Park on Tuesday night, the 47-year-old has become a record-setter in this part of the world thanks to a 2-1 success which further cemented their position at the top of the table.
Just 10 months ago, City travelled to the South Coast and were defeated 4-1 in the early weeks of Lampard's reign. Anyone inside the away end at Fratton Park last December would have most likely snapped your hands off if the subsequent developments at the CBS were guaranteed to have played out.
As previously mentioned, the former midfielder eventually guided the Sky Blues to a second play-off campaign in three seasons before coming unstuck in dramatic fashion against the Black Cats. However, that has clearly fuelled extra determination for himself and his squad, who have started this campaign in record-breaking fashion.
City have backed up the feel-good factor which came when the CBS was taken control of by the club back in August, scoring a remarkable 31 goals in 11 games - including a 7-1 rout against Queens Park Rangers on August 23rd.
Courtesy of Brandon Thomas-Asante's match-winning double against Pompey, Coventry have now recorded their best-ever start to a league season after as many league encounters, having taken 25 points from the first 33 available, winning seven games and drawing four thus far.
Unsurprisingly, such an astonishing feat has been celebrated by the club's official X account, with plenty of supporters issuing praise towards Lampard.
One of those in the replies was Football League World's Sky Blues fan pundit, Chris Deez, who made a sarcastic reference in response to those who doubted the City boss' appointment 11 months ago.
With Lampard previously linked with recent vacancies such as West Ham United and Rangers, one supporter has urged him to snub any interest that comes his way and forge his own legacy in the Midlands.
Lampard was the subject of further praise from other supporters too, with one describing his tactics as "cooking".
With the help of AI, another fan was able to make a rather amusing edit of Lampard performing Kendrick Lamar's well-known song, 'Not Like Us', which is most likely in reference to City's divisional counterparts.
One City fan kept it nice and simple by commenting the well-known 'Super Frank' chant which has been associated with Lampard throughout his playing and managerial days.
Another Sky Blue believes that Doug King may have to expand the recently-purchased CBS, with locals likely to be swept in by the excitement levels.
One supporter believes that the current brand of football served up by Lampard even tops the achievement of winning the FA Cup in 1987 - high praise indeed!
Unsurprisingly, Chelsea supporters were also hard to miss in the replies, as they hope their club's record goalscorer will be managing at Stamford Bridge next season.
There's no denying that Lampard deserves immense credit for the way in which he has moulded his side together in less than a year, with momentum clearly on City's side at present.
The Sky Blues have shown they are capable of scoring from all angles, even without the influence of star playmaker, Jack Rudoni, which is an extremely encouraging sign in itself.
It remains to be seen how much longer the club's unbeaten start can last, and whether they have the minerals to match the Championship's all-time record on that particular front.
At present, they are ten games off equalling the precedent set by Brighton and Hove Albion 10 years ago, who went 21 games unbeaten from the start of the campaign until December 2015 under Chris Hughton.
However, that season didn't end in joy for the Seagulls, as they missed out on automatic promotion by two goals at the expense of Middlesbrough, before losing to Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off semi-finals.
Coventry are well aware of the heartbreak associated with the play-offs, and will certainly hope it is avoided, as they look to mark what would be 25 years outside the Premier League with a long-awaited return.
