Coventry City set their sights on Nice full-back Melvin Bard | OneFootball

Conventry City are reportedly keen on OGC Nice player Melvin Bard (25), according to Foot Mercato. Another foreign club, whose identity has not been revealed, have also shown interest in the versatile French full-back.

In search of defensive reinforcements with just a few hours to go before the summer transfer window closes, the newly promoted Premier League side are said to have made Bard their top target. Under contract with OGC Nice until 2028, the Écully-born player is reportedly valued at around €10m by the club’s management.

A product of the Olympique Lyonnais academy, where he began his professional career, Bard joined Les Aiglons in the summer of 2021 in a deal estimated at €3m. He quickly became a key member of the Côte d’Azur club’s squad and has now made nearly 200 appearances for them, scoring seven goals and providing six assists.

Having made 44 appearances in all competitions for Les Rouge et Noir last season, Bard was notably promoted to the role of captain on several occasions.
