Nice are monitoring Niels Nkounkou as they plan for potential late changes at left-back while aiming to stay competitive.
According to L'Équipe, the club expect foreign approaches for Melvin Bard in the final days before the window closes on the evening of 1 September. Bard, 25, is under contract until June 2028, so Nice have explored options to replace him if required.
Nkounkou, a close friend of Elye Wahi who visited Nice at the end of last season, has been left out of Eintracht Frankfurt’s first-team group. The former Saint-Étienne player, also 25, remains contracted in Germany until 2028.
A loan move is under consideration to bring Nkounkou in.
Le Mans, newly promoted to Ligue 1, tracked Nkounkou earlier in the window, but he rejected that approach to try to establish himself at Frankfurt. That was before his exclusion from the senior squad.
