Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly bought two villas at the Nujuma resort in the Red Sea off Saudi Arabia, spending about £7 million. The Sun reports each property is roughly £3.5 million and that he is among the earliest buyers.

Set on a private island some 800 miles from Riyadh, the resort is reachable only by seaplane or boat. Guests first fly into Red Sea International Airport before transferring to Nujuma. The villas were designed by British architect Lord Norman Foster as part of an exclusive reserve.

"It’s truly exceptional in every sense of the word. From our first visit, Georgina and I felt a deep connection with this island and its breathtaking natural beauty. It’s a place where we find peace and tranquility," he told the Saudi Gazette.

John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea International, welcomed the family and said their choice reflects a desire for adventure with privacy and luxury with nature. He added that the community looks forward to helping them explore the destination.

Ronaldo is reported to have bought one three-bedroom villa and another with two bedrooms in the Ummahat Islands. Homes offer panoramic windows, open living space, a sea-view pool and a telescope for stargazing. A spa, diving centre and a range of water sports are also available.
