Cristiano Ronaldo sends heartfelt public message to Lionel Messi | OneFootball

Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo this week put rivalries to one side, to send a message of strength to long-time rival and Barcelona icon Lionel Messi.

This comes after the latter was forced to come to terms with the passing of his father.

It has proven to be a hugely challenging last week for all associated with the Messi family. Shortly after linking back up with his club teammates at Inter Miami following the conclusion of the World Cup, Lionel Messi was informed that the health condition of his father, Jorge, was worsening.

The 39-year-old and his family therefore made the trip back to their native Argentina, to spend the final days of Jorge’s life by his side.

Leo Messi, no doubt still processing the situation, took to his official social media platforms on Wednesday, to unveil a lengthy message of thanks and farewell to his late father:

And as alluded to above, since following suit with a classy message of his own was none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. Taking to the comments section of Messi’s Instagram tribute, Ronaldo, the Argentine’s greatest-ever rival, wrote:

‘A huge hug to you and yours in these tough times, Leo. Much strength.’
