Liverpool have a lot to think about this summer.

The Anfield outfit will be looking for ways to improve their ranks with their goal likely being to try and win the Premier League or the Champions League.

Things just haven't gone to plan for Arne Slot this term and, unless they have a decent transfer window, it feels like they could go from bad to worse next season.

That's why every move they make in the 2026-27 summer transfer window will have a lot of meaning.

And now, for some of the players that Liverpool are being linked with, it feels like the final steps are being put into place.

RB Leipzig and Yan Diomande are set to enter into a 'crucial' meeting at the end of the season

The 19-year-old has been in fine form for RB Leipzig with the young Ivorian arguably being their best player.

Other teams such as Manchester United are vying for the transfer of the 'generational' talent but, from the very start, Liverpool have always been there.

No decisions have been made on his future yet but now, Sport BILD have shared what the plans are for Diomande and Leipzig over the next couple of weeks.

"According to SPORT BILD, a crucial meeting is scheduled for after the season, during which Diomande will be offered a contract extension," they wrote.

"The agreement is expected to extend the contract by one year to 2031 and likely include a release clause, which is not present in his current contract.

"Furthermore, his relatively low salary of currently under two million euros is expected to be significantly increased."

Liverpool must throw everything they can towards signing Yan Diomande

Diomande is probably not a name that most football fans will have heard of 18 months ago.

The attacker was playing for Leganes and only featured in 10 games.

In fact, before that, the Ivorian was only playing high school football in the USA which proves how far he's come over the last couple of years.

This term, Diomande has played 33 games and has contributed to 22 goals across all competitions while playing on both wings.

One of the only downsides in the deal is that Liverpool would have to pay around £85 million to acquire his services, which, for a 19-year-old who's never played in the Premier League, feels rather steep.

But, the fact that he's genuinely seen as someone who could become the best winger in the world over the next couple of years means that Liverpool would also be buying into his potential, rather than just the player he currently is.

Whatever happens, a decision needs to be made soon as, if a deal isn't on the table, Slot and Richard Hughes will have to turn their attention elsewhere to replace Mohamed Salah.
