According to Sacha Tovalieri, the defender has already agreed personal terms with Botafogo over a move.

It has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that a €7 (£5.9) million offer has been made to Burnley for the right-back, with a further €1 million (£840,000) due in add-ons.

However, no decision has yet been made over the player’s future, with the transfer window set to close on Friday evening.

Vitinho has appeared in all three of the team’s league games so far this season, but it is expected that he will not be in the squad for their EFL Cup game against Wolves on Wednesday evening.

Vitinho transfer verdict

FLW’s Burnley fan pundit Nathan Rogers believes that the club needs to replace Vitinho if they are going to cash in on the defender this month.

He has claimed that the right-hand side of the pitch will struggle if nobody comes in to take his place in the team, should he leave for Brazil before Friday, highlighting a worrying trend about the squad’s overall depth.

“The recurring theme seems to be that we’re just shipping everybody out the door at this point,” Rogers told Football League World.

“It seems to be that anybody that kicks up a stink and wants out gets sold, not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

“Time will tell over the next few days whether the replacements come in, who is left.

“But the outgoing list is a lot bigger than the incoming list, which is good from a financial point of view.

“But our squad depth has been absolutely ravaged at the minute.

“That side of the pitch with Vitinho missing, it’s going to be crucial to get a replacement in I think urgently.

“But, like I say, we’re getting our money back and then some of these players which is a silver lining on these clouds.

“I suppose the real test would be, over the next few days, whether we’re replacing these players and keeping that depth there that we started the season with.

“We looked like we had the best, the biggest and the deepest squad in the Championship, now we look like we’re really thin in every department, especially in the attacking areas.”

Burnley’s 2024 summer transfer activity

Burnley have already sold a number of first team players this summer, including Wilson Odobert, Arijanet Muric, Dara O’Shea and Sander Berge.

It remains to be seen whether any other important players will be sold, but the offer is on the table for Vitinho.

The Clarets have made signings of their own, including bringing Maxime Esteve and Mike Trésor into the fold on a permanent basis after their initial loan moves.

Joe Worrall, Andreas Hountondji, Shurandy Sambo, Vaclav Hladky and Lucas Pires have all also joined the Lancashire outfit.

Vitinho sale would hurt Burnley

Losing someone of Vitinho’s quality would be a blow to Parker’s side, and a replacement will need to be found.

Connor Roberts has struggled to compete for game time against the Brazilian, and Sambo is still adjusting to his new surroundings in English football.

If they feel that Sambo can take on the responsibility of playing every week then it might be worthwhile to cash in on Vitinho.
