Crysencio Summerville: United open talks to sign West Ham winger | OneFootball

Manchester United are prepared to test their luck in east London once again, as they have now opened talks with West Ham United for another player.

United spent nearly a month chasing Mateus Fernandes but they could not convince West Ham to lower their demands. The Hammers had no reason to offer the Red Devils any discount, given Tottenham Hotspur swiftly agreed to pay a guaranteed £85 million to win the race for the midfielder.

However, the two clubs remain in touch, with United also looking to strengthen their attack.

Earlier this week, The Peoples Person relayed a Sky Sports report claiming Crysencio Summerville is emerging as a leading left-wing target for Manchester United.

Now, talkSPORT reporter Ben Jacobs has claimed that United have opened talks with West Ham over Summerville. “Direct club-to-club contact,” he wrote on X.

It is added that United sources are classifying the discussions as “exploratory at this stage”, but the Dutch winger is high in United’s thinking. 

Summerville, who is known for his explosive pace and dribbling ability, was described as “incredible” by West Ham teammate Jean-Clair Todibo earlier this year.

The Netherlands suffered an early exit at the World Cup, but the 24-year-old emerged as one of the most exciting attackers to watch in North America. He was directly involved in four goals for his country.

Crystal Palace’s versatile forward Ismaila Sarr is also reportedly being eyed by the Mancunians.

Crysencio Summerville deal hinges on Marcus Rashford’s future

However, Jacobs underlines that any bid for Summerville or another attacker could be contingent on Marcus Rashford being sold.

Rashford is enduring a contrasting World Cup, having struggled to impress under Thomas Tuchel, who has shown more trust in Anthony Gordon, akin to Barcelona who chose to sign the Newcastle United man over the Red Devil.

The 28-year-old is due to return to Carrington after the World Cup. In recent days, it has been suggested that he could be reintegrated into the squad.

However, it is believed both United and Rashford would prefer their paths do not cross again.
