England international becomes the highest-paid player at the club

Crystal Palace captain Dean Henderson has signed a new long-term contract until the summer of 2030.

The England international will become the highest-paid player at the club, underlining his importance to Palace after taking over the captaincy from Marc Guehi in January.

Under Henderson’s leadership, Palace recovered from a mid-season slump to lift the Conference League with a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano in May.

The 29-year-old has been a crucial player in an unprecedented era of success for Palace, famously saving Omar Marmoush’s penalty as the Eagles beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup.

Henderson is currently sidelined until after the international break with an ankle injury suffered in pre-season and is likely to pull out of selection when Thomas Tuchel names his Nations League squad.

The former Manchester United stopper played through pain for the first three games of the season, but was not in the squad for last weekend’s 3-2 defeat at home to Ipswich Town.

He is expected to be back in time for Palace’s trip to Nottingham Forest on October 11 alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has been struggling with a hamstring injury.

Since signing from Manchester United in August 2023, Henderson has made 119 appearances and recorded 38 clean sheets for Palace, while also winning five senior international caps for England.

On Henderson’s new deal, chairman Steve Parish said:

"As well as being an outstanding goalkeeper, Dean is our captain and leader and I’m absolutely delighted that he has extended his contract at Crystal Palace. Here's to even more successful years ahead."

Henderson added: “I’m delighted. It’s been an amazing three years – and I’m just so happy to extend my contract. My best years are in front of me and I’m happy to be giving that to Crystal Palace.”
