According to The Standard, Crystal Palace captain Dean Henderson has signed a new long-term contract until the summer of 2030 and will become the club’s highest-paid player.

The England international took the armband from Marc Guehi in January and led Palace out of a mid-season slump to win the Conference League with a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano in May.

He has been central to an unprecedented run of success, including saving Omar Marmoush’s penalty as the Eagles beat Manchester City to lift the FA Cup.

Henderson is sidelined until after the international break with an ankle injury suffered in pre-season and is likely to withdraw from consideration when Thomas Tuchel names his Nations League squad.

He played through pain for the first three games of the season but was absent for last weekend’s 3-2 home defeat to Ipswich Town.

He is expected to return for Palace’s trip to Nottingham Forest on 11 October, alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has been managing a hamstring issue.

Since joining from Manchester United in August 2023, Henderson has made 119 appearances and kept 38 clean sheets for Palace, and has five senior England caps. Chairman Steve Parish praised his leadership and said he was thrilled to extend his stay. Henderson said he is delighted, describing the past three years as amazing and that his best years lie ahead with Palace.
