Remi Matthews could yet stay, but Ferguson exits along with Jairo Riedewald and James Tomkins after injury hell
Nathaniel Clyne has signed a new contract at Crystal Palace until 2025, but injury-plagued defender Nathan Ferguson has been released.
Ex-England international Clyne, 33, is a Palace academy graduate and has 219 appearances to his name for the Eagles’ senior team. He played 23 times this season.
The club said it wanted to “place on record its thanks” for Ferguson, 23, who has been released after a number of very serious injuries limited him to just eight minutes of action in four years at the club after signing from West Brom in 2020.
Palace also confirmed that goalkeeper Remi Matthews, 30, has been offered a new contract. He is yet to formally accept it, having played only once this season — a three-minute cameo off the bench in December’s 2-1 home Premier League defeat by Liverpool after injury forced Sam Johnstone off the pitch.

Last month, the Eagles confirmed that midfielder Jairo Riedewald and veteran centre-back James Tomkins would both be leaving the club upon the expiry of their respective contracts this summer.
Palace finished 10th in the Premier League this season, winning six and drawing one of their last seven games of the season under new manager Oliver Glasner, who replaced Roy Hodgson in February.
